Healthcare
The last two years has left the healthcare system very fatigued with the effects of the Coronavirus pandemic. The added strain has left more healthcare staff in burn out, or close to it, or suffering from more stress related illnesses. With severe staff shortages, it is critical that we look after our carers.
Sophrology is an easy to learn mind-body wellbeing method that can help to empower your healthcare staff with tools and techniques to help to reduce the effects of stress and regain a sense of equilibrium and harmony throughout their working day. Sophrology has been used extensively in healthcare settings in France, Belgium, Switzerland, and Spain, for decades, and in fact was the first organisational setting that Sophrology started to be used in, helping people with cancer.

As an associate of the Sophrology Academy I work in partnership with them in Sophrology training, and can refer your staff members for training to help identify and manage the signs of stress earlier, providing a set of tools to enable ongoing self-management and prevention, much like a Mental Health First Aider, The Sophrology Academy is the first Sophrology school in the UK, based in Kent, training English speaking Sophrologists, online and in person.
"During the morning session we explored a lot emotions and some of them were very raw for our group members especially the ones that still feel angry about their sight loss. I was amazed at the effects of your session and got some very positive feedback from all the group members (staff and volunteers too!).
I received a telephone call from one of our group members who is really struggling to come to terms with her sight loss and is very angry with herself and her situation, feels agitated all the time and feels she is constantly snapping at family members who are trying to help. She said (to quote her word for word) "I don't believe in counselling or fluffy lovey dovey nonsense so I wasn't going to come to this session but I'm really glad I did because it's the first time I have felt properly calm for a long time."
On a personal level I have done meditation and visualisation and breathing techniques many times before but have never felt so deeply relaxed or have the effects last for so long."

SOPHROLOGY IN THE NEWS
"While many people try and fail to reap the benefits of meditative practices, taking up Sophrology could be the key to unlocking your mind's potential."
“You’ve heard of mindfulness, now meet its dynamic young cousin Sophrology. Mindfulness is the tried-and-tested tool of our times for anxiety, depression, chronic pain, addiction and more, but what if it’s not your thing? For those too twitchy to sit still and focus on breathing, Sophrology is the dynamic mindfulness alternative, popular on the continent. The French rugby team and media-magnate-turned-wellbeing-guru Arianna Huffington swear by this method”
"A form of moving meditation or “Dynamic Relaxation”. It’s so popular in France and Switzerland that it’s offered to children in schools and is even part of the training for the Geneva police force. Now it’s about to hit the UK."
“Sophrology - the calming wellbeing we all need now. A form of "Dynamic Meditation" Sophrology brings a sense of relief in the midst of the pandemic"
